HanseYachts AG Partners with Germany SailGP Team
HanseYachts AG is proud to support the Germany SailGP Team presented by Deutsche Bank. SailGP is one of the most spectacular competitions in modern sailing. The global championship brings national teams together for intense races at destinations around the world.
Teams compete aboard identical F50 hydrofoiling catamarans, capable of reaching speeds around 100 km/h. Instead of sailing through the water in the traditional sense, the boats rise onto their foils and effectively fly above the surface, combining advanced technology with the skills of some of the world's best sailors.
The Germany SailGP Team, led on the water by Erik Kosegarten-Heil, represents Germany in this international championship.
Supporting the Team in Sassnitz
Representatives of HanseYachts AG were on site to support the team during the recent ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz, held on the Baltic coast on 22 and 23 August.
Racing in front of its home crowd, the German team gave its supporters plenty to celebrate. The crew claimed two race victories during the weekend – the first time in the team's history it had won two races at a single SailGP event.
For HanseYachts AG, being there was an opportunity to experience a very different side of sailing and support the German team directly from the shore.
Different Worlds, the Same Passion for Water
“We were keeping our fingers crossed throughout the weekend and were very happy to see the strong results of our team,” says Holger Passauer, CFO of HanseYachts AG.
“SailGP is an extreme water sport and, in many ways, very different from what we do at HanseYachts AG every day. But there is one thing that clearly connects us: a great passion for being on the water.”
The partnership creates a natural connection between recreational yachting and one of the most technologically advanced forms of competitive sailing. Different boats, different purposes and very different speeds - but the same enthusiasm for life on the water.
Good Luck for the Rest of the Season
The Sassnitz weekend delivered exciting racing and a strong performance from the Germany SailGP Team, but there is still more to come in the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship.
